Cookies Policy
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains what cookies and similar storage technologies Belport AI uses on belport.ai — our public marketing site — and what you can do about them.
We use this policy to comply with Regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended by Schedule 13 of the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (DUAA), in force from 5 February 2026. PECR Reg. 6 applies to any storage of information on your device — cookies, but also localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB and any equivalent technology — and to any reading-back of information stored there.
This policy does not cover our WhatsApp assistant (which doesn't run in a browser and doesn't use cookies). For everything else about how we handle your personal data, see our Privacy Notice.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files saved on your device by your browser when you visit a website. The site can read them back later, which lets it remember you between visits or between pages. Cookies on belport.ai are either:
- First-party — set by us, for our site only.
- Third-party — set by another company whose code we've embedded (for example, an analytics service).
The same legal rules apply to other browser storage that does the same job — localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB. Where we use any of those, they are listed alongside cookies below.
3. What we use, and why — the full list
3.1 Storage set by the Belport AI site itself (first-party)
| Name | Type | Party | Category | Purpose | Duration | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
belport_ai_cookie_consent |
localStorage | First-party | Strictly necessary | Records your cookie-banner choices (per category) so we don't re-prompt you on every page load. Value is a JSON object with a timestamp, version, and a true/false flag for each category. | ~12 months | PECR Reg. 6(4) strictly-necessary exemption — needed to deliver a service (cookie preferences) you've explicitly requested. No consent required. |
3.2 Storage set only after you give consent (third-party)
These items are not set if you reject the relevant category in the banner.
| Name | Type | Party | Category | Purpose | Duration | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Cookie | Third-party (Google) | Marketing / tracking | Distinguishes individual visitors for Google Analytics 4 so we can see how many people visit each page. | 2 years | User consent (PECR Reg. 6(2)) |
_ga_KEQS31G7VH |
Cookie | Third-party (Google) | Marketing / tracking | GA4 session-state container for our specific GA property. | 2 years | User consent (PECR Reg. 6(2)) |
_gid |
Cookie | Third-party (Google) | Marketing / tracking | GA4 may set additional short-lived identifiers depending on configuration. Listed for completeness; may not appear in practice. | 24 hours | User consent (PECR Reg. 6(2)) |
3.3 Things that look like tracking but aren't
| Service | What it does | Storage on your device? |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Aggregate, privacy-preserving page-view counts. Cloudflare publicly states the product uses no cookies, no localStorage and no sessionStorage — it only sends a beacon. | None — PECR Reg. 6 not engaged. |
| Google Fonts | Loads the Inter and Lora font files. Google receives your IP when the font loads, which is covered by our Privacy Notice. | None on your device — PECR Reg. 6 not engaged. |
| Tailwind CDN | Serves the CSS framework that styles the site. | None — PECR Reg. 6 not engaged. |
3.4 What we don't use
To be precise about what is not set on this site, as of the publication date:
- No advertising or re-targeting pixels (Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
- No session-recording or heatmap tools (Hotjar, FullStory, Microsoft Clarity, etc.).
- No A/B-testing cookies (Optimizely, VWO, etc.).
If we add any of these in the future, we'll update this policy and re-prompt you for consent.
4. The categories we use in the banner
When you first visit the site you'll see a cookie banner. It groups storage into four categories:
| Category | What it covers | On by default? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Storage we need to deliver the site (e.g. remembering your cookie choice). | Always on, can't be turned off. |
| Analytics | Storage that helps us understand how the site is used in aggregate. | Off by default. |
| Functional | Storage that supports optional convenience features. We currently use none in this category. | Off by default. |
| Marketing | Storage that supports advertising or cross-site identification. Google Analytics is grouped here because it shares infrastructure with Google Ads. | Off by default. |
There are no pre-ticked boxes. We don't use loaded language, count silence as consent, or treat "carry on browsing" as agreement. Accept and Reject are the same size and visual weight in the banner.
5. What only happens after you consent
If you reject the Analytics and Marketing categories — or simply don't choose anything yet — no third-party scripts that store data on your device are loaded. Google Analytics is held back behind the consent check.
If you grant consent to the relevant category, we then:
- Load
googletagmanager.com/gtag/jsand initialise GA4 with analytics and ad storage set to granted. - GA4 sets the cookies listed in section 3.2 above.
We currently use no third-party marketing or advertising scripts beyond GA4, and no third-party functional scripts at all. If that changes, we'll update this policy and the banner.
6. How to change your mind
You can change your cookie choices at any time:
- Click "Cookie settings" in the footer of every page on belport.ai. This re-opens the same preferences panel you saw on first visit, with your current choices shown. You can turn categories on or off individually.
- Most browsers also let you delete cookies and localStorage through their own settings. If you do that, you'll see the banner again next visit because your choice has been wiped.
If you withdraw consent for a category, we stop setting new cookies in that category immediately, and the relevant third-party scripts are not loaded on subsequent page loads.
Try it now: — this is the same panel you saw on first visit.
7. Your rights and how to complain
You have rights over your personal data — including any data generated by cookies and similar storage. The full list is in our Privacy Notice.
For cookies specifically:
- Withdrawal of consent is always free, always available, and as simple as giving it. Use the Cookie settings link in the footer.
- You can complain to us at [email protected]. We'll respond within one month.
- You can complain to the regulator — the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) — at any time, without coming to us first. ico.org.uk — helpline 0303 123 1113.
8. Changes to this policy
If we add a cookie, add a third-party script, or change a category, we will:
- Update this page and the version and last-reviewed date at the top.
- Re-prompt you with the cookie banner so you can review your choices against the new list.
